Infection

It is time to infect the world and there are at least two amusing ways to do it. One way is to create a very detailed desies and control how it mutates and kills off the human population while the other is to blast an unknown chemical at people which turns them into zombies.

Both have their fun for their own reasons but we'll look at both into a good amount of detail both of these are flash games at Kongregate, to which this blog writer has an account if only for ease of use and to prevent backlogging bookmarks of flash games.

Anyway, to continue we are going to look at two games which are based around world domination. Neither require more than the mouse to play and are very "Easy to learn, difficult to master." Please note that while neither of these games have been beaten on Solve Unamusement's accord, they will eat hours of your life.

Small Worlds

There was a contest or something to make a game based on casual gameplay and a keyword or something to which there was zero digging little bother with beyond the fact to recognize it exists, you want something serious go read a "serious" blog, but what is found is a beautiful game. Explore is taken to such a level with Small Worlds that I hope they won. If they didn't, who cares this game was freaking awesome!

If you like beauty in your time consuming adventures, if you like simplicity in complexity, if you just like something not to hard but still lots of fun and not to much of a time killer than Small Worlds is very much for you.

Controls are simple, use the arrow keys. Up is jump, left is left and right is right. Gravity is down, you'll figure that one out very quickly.

Explore Small Worlds and make sure to play a second time just so you can re-witness the pure beauty of it.

Flash Game Roundup

Just a quick flash game round up of the random flash games I've been collecting over the last few months. Sadly only a few make the list.

Red Remover - It's cute and it's fun. Yeah, cute get over it! A technically simple puzzle game.

Splitter 2 - Eh, I do not remember. That's right, I don't remember at all what this game is about. It was bookmarked for blog posting so can't be horrible.

The Great House Escape - A point and click adventure game that links several other "The Great ____ Escape" games. Each game has a walkthrough in case you can't/won't figure things out by yourself.

Brain Safari - Keep your mind active. It is a fun, and another cute, game. You count animals and blah blah blah, it was amusing so shut up and go play it already.

Ghosts Revenge - A find the difference game. Yes, that's all it is BUT the story is freaking great! I loved the story so much that I actually played this stupid find it game twice. The music is crazy good for a flash game too. Perfectly morbid but not morbidly irritating.

Doodle God - This game is so hard! That's right, difficult, well at least to me. Maybe it will come easier to others but most will need to find and/or use a walkthrough.

Grow Flash Games

A series of flash games with one very simple mechanic involved, to grow as high as possible. Some range from the irritatingly difficult to the just plain fun. Here are a fun if you wish to try. Lets thank joo, a resident reader for these suggestions.

Grow Tower
Vanilla
Grow (Remake)

There are a few on-site, check them out for some really interesting combinations and fun. A great way to kill several hours of your life, if that is your thing.

Popotamo

The title of this post goes in tune with the game of an identical name. Basically you're looking at an MMO version of Scrabble with some interesting add-ons to it. Very "newb friendly" while, at the same time, appeals and keeps veteran players playing.

No worry about spelling, the game will inform you when you have made up a word. Turns are met with "action points" or "ticks" as with most PBBGs. Turns are also "play letters when you have them" and can become a bit of a race to just get your words on the bored. Personally, this game has only been played for a couple days off-and-on but like most PBBGs it is easy to leave, and come back to without much difficulty.

A few notes before you start to play as well as some simple strategy. First off, read the Help Section. It will answer all those questions you are going to have. If the Help Section doesn't answer those questions, then you've never played a game of scrabble or done a spelling-bee in your life. The Help Section applies to how Popotamo is different to similar games, that's about it. Some personal notes would be to fill up your action bar as much as possible before coming back to a game as well as to avoid putting letters in the outlining squares unless you've got plenty of actions points to spare. That very outside ring of the game square will cost you points for using but at the same time clear the bored to allow for more words.

Mushroom Farm Defender

Anyone that follows my twitter knows that there is still a search for a free, downloadable tower defense game. There are literally THOUSANDS of flash ones, so here is one of those flash ones that is very amusing.

Mushroom Farm Defender is a tower defense game about garden gnomes, uber insects and cacti. The controls are very simply point-and-click, with easy to tell tower (gnome) distances and power by simply looking at the screen without really needing to read much of anything.

I'll note, personally, you can beat most games with the cacti and cacti alone, provided you place them correctly, but its a fun flash game about tower defenses.

Blosics 1 $ 2

Two quick amusements for the price of one. These games are rather simple in their idea but quickly become complicated once the puzzles start getting complicated. Personally, neither game was made it past level six or seven but this is only due to having other things to keep me amused that are easier.

Out of the two games, the second is the best and most well done. The both have similar, if not identical puzzles, but the first feels more like a tech demo than a game. Not to mention that the first game is a lot slower due to mechanical break downs and ball size options.

The hard part in either game, though, is the challenge portion of two. Two has some cool challenge parts to each puzzle. Some are easy, others not so much. Give both games a try and see what happens.

You only need the mouse to play and the game is relatively simple to learn so you guys can figure out the controls yourselves. Then again, each game has a controls option at least on the site it is hosted on.

C O D E O R G A N (Music by Blogging)

Picture if you will a device that plays music based on the code your website or blog has. This is what C O D E O R G A N (Why the spaces is beyond me) does.

C O D E O R G A A N

A lot of Solve Unamusement's backlog and archived pages just sound absolutely horrible. Not much to say when the text for the blog only "looks right" on one PC that has been seen, so far. So things don't look the prettiest all the time (Especially this blog's random code) but at least it runs

Note: No page break so that C O D E O R G A N plays the main page upon clicking play and not the single post.

You Have To Burn The Rope (Flash Game)

Defeat the Grinning Colossus in order to win the game and save the whole wide world with your awesome! Do not worry, this is a fear for any who truly wish to try their hand at such and there will, forever, be your name written on a plaque for how awesome you were for this epic of all awesomeness.

Fear how awesome anyone must be in order to play and beat this one-of-a-kind flash game.

Lemmings

No matter how hold you are or when you started to game everyone should have played this for at least a few moments or two. Its the SIMS minus the annoying bablish language with just as much dependency and idiocy.

Picture tiny little creatures who only know how to walk forward and you are there (demi)god! It is your duty to make sure as many of these stupid, and ugly, little creations gets to their home in one piece. As this (demi)god, you are granted several powers in order to do this. Your most used being the stop command. A command which makes whatever Lemming you click on stop in his tracks and act like a bouncer made of diamond.

NONE SHALL PASS!

Pixar Parody

Pixar is a personal favorite here, at Solve Unamusement, this will be learned slowly but surely as there is just so much of the randomness to find and offer as amusement that sometimes things are accidentally forgotten.

Karoshi Suicide Salaryman

A very simple puzzle solving game where the objective is to kill your character.

Copy-Paste Game Description:
Description

"Karoshi" is a Japanese word and means "death by overwork". In this game many things are not what you'd expect and the goal of each level is counter-intuitive: you need to die.

Each stage presents a new challenge. There are several objects you can use to solve puzzles, and in later levels the game will even break it's own rules to surprise you.

50 clever levels and a boss fight at the end. We hope you have fun (killing yourself)!

If you have played the Game Maker version, YES this is an official Flash version!

Controls

Directional arrows move, up jumps and space bar is shoot your weapon.

The game can be found here at Armor Games. There is also a sequal.

Dad 'n Me (Flash Game)

Dad 'n Me is a beat'em-up by the same people who brought you Alien Homonid. The game centers around one of the creator's main character's son (mouth full?) who's job is to be a bully.

The game is far from difficult and I personally found little challenge for the most part. "Boss fights" were the only thing which posed any real difficulty, unless projectiles from other areas were kept. Should note that the basketball is worth keeping as long as possible.

Controls
  • Jab - A key
  • Strong - S key
  • Move - Arrow keys

Combo a smash attack with both A and S. Doing this is a great way to knock down multiple enemies as well as smack bosses down when no projectiles are about.

Just In Case... (Dr. Tran)

Just in case you missed it, here's a nail to the gut. That's right, Dr. Tran with episode seven of "Dr. Tran Fan Mail" is out. It was out as of the last Dr. Tran post but the other one was book marked first. This one was linked in the post but not everyone here, reads.

Dr. Tran Main

That's right campers, this post is called "Phoning It In" turn in next week when I think about trying. Key word there is think about it, we'll see what happens.

It's That Time Again (Dr. Train)

Some more Dr. Tran awesome with a little bit of crude humor and a lot of BONERS. Well the word, to be exact. This episode of Dr. Tran Fan Mail has Dr. Tran hearing a letter he actually wants to answer. Too bad the voice wants nothing to do with that and has better ideas.

Perfect Balance (Two 4 1)

One of those "easy to play difficult to master" games, I give you Perfect Balance (2). Yes, there is a first one and a second one. There may be a third but I did not bother to check.

Each game is very simple to play and only requires your mouse to do so. The premise is very simple, as well. Generally, these games are puzzle games and require you to do as the game title says. You need to reach each pieces prefect balance without causing them to tumble down into the abyss below.

You will slowly learn tricks to doing this and each puzzle can be solved several ways, which is part of the fun. Some may seem easy to people because of a certain way people view things. I, for one, found several to be very difficult but at the same time there were many that just seemed silly to be so high a level and point value.

Controls
  • Mouse - Used to drag and drop pieces
  • A - Used to rotate pieces clockwise(?)
  • D - Used to rotate pieces counter-clockwise
  • R - Used to rest/retry

Interactive Fiction

Also known as iFiction or just IF, there is a odd little gaming community out there that needs be pointed too. Generally, these games play like a storybook, choose your own adventure.

Some early examples would be zork I, II and III these games are nothing but that of IF and only require you to spell simple works and understand simple concepts.

Such games are usually lacking in graphics and usually play like reading a single player mud. However, such games have a lot better story then a mud, and don't require you to trust others around you.

Some of the mechanics I found on simple explanation sites made it sound similar to emulation, but that is only the case when actually dealing with DOS games. Most seem to be broken into two parts.

One part of the game is the actual game and the other is it's personal OS. Each game has to run on multiple operating systems and separating the run sequences from the game itself makes sure that more people play them.

This is due to the size of IF community itself.

A flash based, IF that was directly suggested to myself for its simplicity, shortness and general noob friendly attitude of it can be found here and in the side bar. the side bar link is located under individual flash games, although that is technically not correct.

Warning: These things require you know how to read and spell.

The Maze Game (Halloween Two)

Something else that might be a "bit old" but still fun and relevant to the holiday, is a game I that was recently stumbled upon.

The game, itself, is simply called "The Maze Game" or just "Maze Game" but has this nice underline feature that even when someone who expects it, still isn't fully ready for it. While the game is fun for its own reasons what is more fun is sharing this game with friends.

Controls are very simple, all one needs is their mouse and computer speakers. You guide a little dot along the maze and try to not touch the sides. Sound helps with this as small warnings are given if you touch the wall.

Controls
  • Mouse - Move Game Cursor and Navigate Maze
  • Speakers - Sound is, sadly, needed to get the game's full effect

After all those short talks on the game, a link to play is needed. That link is here.

The Bee Game

The Bee, a flash game that was recently found on freeadictinggames, has a beautifully simple thing going for it. The controls are easy, the concept is to the point and the puzzles aren't difficult to figure out.

Yes, The Bee is a puzzle game, of sorts, where you control a bee. The general game play consists of you moving the mouse around the flash game screen to control the bee. You collect daisies and/or get the ball into a basket while getting around obstacles and being constrained to a dotted line area.

The challenge in The Bee, is that dotted line area. Your character, which is of course the bee, is confined to a small area on the screen. At first, I honestly didn't notice and was confused as to why the bee didn't move with my mouse. Yes, this isn't very bright of me but I was lagging at the time.

Puzzles, in the game, randomly range in difficulty. Its a tad random on the puzzle solution as well. While the solutions are simple, collect this then put the ball here, there is no real direction otherwise.

Controls
  • Mouse - Move Bee

The only thing other then the puzzles are the odd boss fights against another flying insect. They play something like old school 8-bit tennis games. You lob the ball to the other side and try to hit their floor. After getting five and winning you can continue to the next stage area. I got to puzzle group three before deciding to write the blog post, and will probably never play the game again but it ate a good hour of my time.

A nice solid amusement, if not a short lived one. It is a fun game and a good random find.
