I am NOT an Asshole!

Those of you who read Solve Unamusement on a regular type of basis may or may not feel that the writer of this blog is a little bit of an asshole. Those whom speak to me, actually speak with me or use an instant messenger client, might think this as well. I am here, now, to clear up this little misunderstanding.

Posts like this, labels like this and most (if not all) of Blog News might give off the wrong impression. If anything, folks, I'm a nerd more than anything. Posts about video games, Yu-Gi-Oh and old cartoons is proof of this.

However, if we sill insist on the whole "Asshole thing", lets look into it further.

The Rapage Continues.. AGAIN!

A good time ago there were two posts here, on Solve Unamusement, about songs that might or might not get stuck in your head and/or annoy you for days on end. Those two posts, if you wish to see them, were cleverly named Silly Song Rampage and Continuing The Rampage (Silly Songs 2). to keep with the theme of these posts, and to add another odd little random bit to Solve Unamusement, we shall continue this for today.

For this day, there are three songs given. Only three songs, yet they will pop into your head after years of never hearing them only to torment your soul until you finally give in (as I have done). Some might even find these songs good, and I honestly do, but they will haunt your life for the next week or so, I promise.

Most Awesomest Thing Ever

You see two items before you and between these two items you must pick which one is the most awesome. Then, you are given two more items which you are to pick what is INDEED the most awesome.

A simple flash based game, I guess, where you point and click. The idea is rather simple and is stated in the game/website's title. At the end of it all, the site's job is to finally find what is THE MOST AWESOMEST THING EVER.

Sometimes you get totally random and odd groupings, like the SNES vs Soup and other times flatulence vs cheese, which was just too funny. The site takes Wikipedia images as its source and has links to anything you might not know to well, or at all "What is this?".

Aladdin (Sega Genesis)

It is as Wiki has said, the SNES version of Aladdin and the Genesis version are vastly different. And to cut it quick and simple, the Genesis version is better if not a lot more difficult and unforgiving.

The differences between the two games are quickly apparent when you have played both of them so close to one another. The similarities, beyond the story and the fact they are platformers, are also very obvious. Lets check out both, differences and similarities as seen, by Solve Unamusement.

First thing anyone will notice after booting up the game is that Aladdin has a sword, a scimitar to be exact. However, the apples will hit enemies from afar and are always in plenty so don't be afraid to use them. The game is still short, like the one for the SNES, but it is also noticeably longer. The music for both games were obviously very similar, as well, though one of the two smash the other to no end in comparison. One bit point, gems in the Genesis version actually had a point to them. Gems were used to buy extra levels as well as "Genni Wishes" or "Continues" as one might call them.

Lets break this down a little.

Some may or may not know that while this writer is a very obvious Nintendo fanboy that some Sega games are enjoyed. One Sega game which is fully enjoyed has always been PSO but that's not today's point.

Aladdin zSNES

Short, simple, amusing platforming and moderately okay controls equal up to a short and fun gaming type of experience. Firstly, lets get that big SNES mark up, out of the way.

Wiki Says:

Disney's Aladdin is a video game based on the 1992 motion picture of the same name. Unlike some cross-platform games of both then and now, the five versions (Sega Mega Drive, Super NES, Sega Master System/Sega Game Gear, Game Boy and NES) are each different games.

That is why this is being specifically pointed out as the SNES version, the "Z" is simply the emulator I use to play SNES games (ZSNES). Mainly as that is the only version which was played, personally. Clearly the games are not exactly ported to every system at the time, either. So, again, this is a look at only the SNES version. The easiest way to share the game without actually sharing is to provide a video walkthrough.

Epic April (Television)

On Monday, April 5th 2010, there was the beginnings of an epic of all epic months. Thanks to Attack Of The Show's EPIC APRIL and a not so friendly thought on the new iPad we are given a great bounty of music awesomeness. There was so much more within that week and even more to com on this Epic of Aprils.

Some might know Distended Warranty from a previous post with AOTS co-host Kevin Piera and under all the fake hair I can't make out who the second guy of the group is. Oh well, not relevant to be all of honest.

Back to the topic at hand, lets see what Distended Warranty has to offer, today.

Laughing Poppins (Movies)

Aren't silly post names, fun? The post title clearly tells you what is going to be spoken about within this post, however not always in context. Sometimes a little bit of help is given, like the word "Movies" in parentheses. This post is about a movie, or at least a small part of a movie.

What movie and what part? Come now, reader. Do you expect me to explain every small detail for you? Perhaps the tape measure needs be pulled out to see how you measure up? Then again, you could always look at that image to the right and simply know what is going on.

Mary Poppins! That's right, the one and only "Marry-freaking-Poppins" is here and going to tell you all about how to behave. Sing, dance, learn a little thing here and there but remember not to enjoy your time to much. You don't want to be lauging hard and end up on the ceiling.

What Is "Internet Art"?

The internet is good for finding random/odd randomness and sometimes it is disguised as artwork. Who labels most of these items "art" is the artist themselves, most is along the lines of "abstract" and "interpretive". What I intend to speak on, right now, is not your typical type of art. Granted, a few of those posts are art only in certain eyes, I am speaking of something extra odd/quirky.

The first and easiest to post in this is the website URL identified with an "art site". Now, what you might or might not think is something along the lines of something and nothing (Solve Unamusement noted something and nothing 08/03/2009). If such is the case than you would be horribly mistaken.

Law Abiding Engineer/Citizen (Movies & Games)

At first, looking at the title makes you go "Huh?". Well seeing @GamersDaily posting the headline, here, without the /Citizen part made me curious so thus to say it'll make others curious as well.

Now, I've not seen the movie "Law Abiding Citizen" but I'd really like to. The trailer, however, is all over the place and has been for some time now. The plot to the film doesn't look all that deep, keyword of "look", but that doesn't mean some fun can't be had.

Broken Fingaz

Solve Unamusement regulars will know that stop-motion is a personal favorite when it comes to animation. Of course a lot, lot of different animation styles and types fall into this category. The easiest, and most common, is with standard house hold items, like post-its. This stop-motion animation was done with graffiti art and two "actors", presumably from the troop "Broken Fingaz", themselves.

Meet Maxwell (Music)

Some of you may know and some of you may not but to those who do know, this will come as little surprise. Maxwell is a child who's a bit disturbed; he's got issues. Violent and otherwise unpleasant for everyone around him, type of issues.

So if I said this was a song by The Beatles which was animated to the literal, half of you know whats up already. Otherwise, here is Maxwell's Silver Hammer by The Beatles. The animation is great and it adds an extra bit of humor to the song, which is already there.
